Account Changed Mid-Flow

What the "account changed" error means and how to recover

Account Changed Mid-Flow

If you see an error like "Your account changed mid-flow. Please start again," Aura detected that the active Privy account switched while the enable-trading flow was in progress.

Why this happens

The enable-trading flow ties each step (agent key, unified mode, referral, builder fee) to a specific account. If the account changes between steps — for example, you switched wallets in MetaMask, logged out and back in, or a session expired — the flow aborts as a safety measure to prevent keys and settings from being applied to the wrong account.

How to recover

  1. Refresh the page
  2. Confirm you're signed in with the correct account (check the address or profile in the top nav)
  3. Start the enable-trading flow again from the trade page

The flow will pick up any steps that were already completed for that account and only ask for the remaining ones.

If it keeps happening

This can occasionally occur if your session token is stale. Try:

  • Signing out completely and signing back in
  • Clearing cookies and site data, then signing in fresh

If the issue persists, contact support.
