Lost Device or Cleared Storage
Your Hyperliquid agent key is stored locally — in browser storage on web, or in device storage on mobile. If that storage is cleared, the key is gone from the device. This is expected behavior, not a bug.
Your funds and positions are completely safe. The agent key is scoped to trading only — it cannot withdraw or transfer funds. Your actual account, balances, and open positions all live on Hyperliquid's chain and are unaffected.
What triggers this
- Clearing browser site data or cache
- Reinstalling the mobile app
- Switching to a new device or browser profile
- Using a private/incognito window (key isn't persisted across sessions)
How to recover
Go through the enable-trading flow again. You'll need to sign one signature to authorize a new agent key on the current device. The rest of the flow (unified mode, referral, builder fee) is already done — only the agent key step will appear.
This typically takes under 30 seconds.
If you're near the 4-wallet limit
Each re-authorization creates a new API wallet on your HL account. If you've done this many times across devices, you may be approaching the 4-wallet cap. See Managing API Wallets to review and revoke old keys before re-authorizing.
